Anne Hathaway looking like a punk goddess in Valentino (’92 archives) with perfect bleached hair to match! My hands down favorite!

Somehow Kristen Stewart pulls this maroon Stella McCartney jumpsuit off to perfection, her whole persona makes this style feel authentic. Plus I have a weak spot for jumpsuits in general, blame it on Bianca Jagger.

Though the only thing punk about this choice is the color black (which was repeated by quite a few others) Dakota Fanning looks sleek and sophisticated in this sheer-paneled Rodarte creation, Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry and a Roger Vivier clutch which puts her smack dab onto this list.

You’d think there would have been a lot more spikes on the red carpet of a punk themed evening but alas, no. Enter, Cara Delevingne! In a plunging Burberry dress studded sleeves (no hugs please) plus a killer clutch, also by Burberry, with Jennifer Fisher necklaces. Is she the face of a Burberry campaign? You betcha. It would seem natural that the models attending the MET Gala would be the obvious stand-outs but that was hardly the case. Right Chanel Iman?

Miranda Kerr reminding us to put down the cupcakes while showing off a svelte angel’s physique in a black Michael Kors halter gown with a coordinating bandeau bra. Plus a Christian Louboutin spiked clutch and lots of Cartier baubles.

January Jones looking like… Tilda Swinton? Not crazy about this black sequin Chanel dress per se but the fact that she looked completely out of character seems perfect for the theme of the evening. Also these Nicholas Kirkwood heels are speaking to me.

Emmy Rossum perfectly balancing a feminine low-cut Donna Karan Atelier beaded gown with punk makeup and hair (of sorts). Plus IritDesign jewelry.

Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson, it is sickening how often these two look ridiculously hot. She’s wearing a black lace Chanel gown with a few hot pink streaks in her hair (there’s the punk…) What’s Joshua wearing? Good question.

Kylie Minogue looking lovely in a Moschino black-and-white ensemble with an oversize bow detail and just too pretty to ignore on this list.

Hailee Steinfeld looking lovely in a Donna Karan Atelier gown and punkishly (yes I made that up) embroidered with gold safety pins. An added dramatic eye makeup and a bright-pink lip (with Jimmy Choo accessories) complete this age (16) appropriate style.

Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudakis, another hot couple in perfect fashion harmony. She’s wearing a custom ivory Calvin Klein Collection bandeau dress with a sexy crisscross back and black insets. He’s wearing, suit hotness.

Though usually I find Rooney Mara’s love of the dark lip too austere, it fits in perfectly with the punk theme. Pairing a white lace Givenchy Haute Couture gown with a darker lip and severe pulled back hair just works beautifully. The Fred Leighton jewels don’t hurt either.

Kate Bosworth looking hardly punk (sequinned hipster?) but pretty damn hot in a beaded Balmain creation with a gold belt and Ferragamo pumps.

Taylor Swift pulling off punk (ish) in a J. Mendel dress with sheer side panels reminiscent of Gwyneth Paltrow’s choice for the Iron Man 3 which will no doubt raise the same question…

Jennifer Lopez, another night, another flawless makeup and hair session. Seriously. Only outdone by that body in an animal-print Michael Kors creation. Punk Cougar?

Not generally a big fan of Jessica Biel’s fashion choices but I’m partial to this Giambattista Valli macramé and tulle gown with matching pants, plus patent pumps. Jewelry by Fred Leighton, what else but the status quo.

Emma Watson looking elementary, ha, just had to! In a cutout Prabal Gurung gown with a dramatic mullet hem, plus Brian Atwood heels and a single statement earring by Fred Leighton. Way to break the status quo on this one kid.

Honorary co-chair Beyoncé looking like a golden goddess (when doesn’t she?!) in a Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci gown with a paisley-print structured bodice and megawatt Lorraine Schwartz jewels. Oh and RIDI.CU.LOUS.LY killer matching boots. That is all.

The face of Gucci’s female fragrance wearing, what else, Gucci. Blake Lively opting for a strapless Gucci Première gown with a full feather-and-organza skirt. Though I am loving the feathers… Topped off with dangling Lorraine Schwartz earrings.

Carey Mulligan looking stunning in a chic black cutout Balenciaga dress adorned with a large gold safety pin. Proving that simplicity sometimes has the biggest impact.

Is it more goth than punk? Potato, potahto. Florence Welsh in her signature style that no one else could pull off, a Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci gown that looks heavy and definitely too hot for the weather but it working nonetheless. Oh and her crowning glory, her gorgeous locks.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley looking smashing dahling. Simultaneously sleek and punk-ish in a Gucci gown with a sheer netted bodice and metallic satin skirt. Slicked back hair a bold red lip and statement chandelier earrings.

Well if anyone was going to pull off the punk theme, was there a doubt it’d be Madonna? The queen doing what she does best in custom Givenchy Haute Couture, hot pink Casadei pumps, chains and a black bob.

Gisele Bündchen giving the most awkward pose of the night, at least one caught on camera. Wearing a one-shoulder Anthony Vaccarello design, tons of David Yurman black diamonds (yes another campaign face), a black clutch and signature side-swept effortless I-roll-out-of-bed-looking-like-this-yeah-right-waves.
Is it punk? Who cares, it’s Gisele.

Julianne Hough matching her spiderweb-patterned Topshop frock to her up-do and wearing Jacob & Co. jewelry. I’m getting a Beetlejuice vibe from this outfit or maybe it’s a Winona Ryder vibe in Edward Scissorhands, haven’t decided yet.
