Carry On Snacks and Must Haves

Posted on

Is there anything worse than airline food?  Yes, but not for the purpose of this post.
Here are some of the must haves to make your trip healthy and save your waist for the cocktails and local food you should be enjoying instead.

From the Top:

  1. Vive Sana’s Healthy SPF
  2. Pukka Three Ginger Tea
  3. Chia Seeds (for protein)
  4. Avocados (healthy fats)
  5. Steel Cut Oats (& a water heater)
  6. Lara Bars
  7. Green Tea
  8. Eagle Creek’s Crossroads Upright 25
  9. Ipod (with new playlists)
  10. Shredded Coconut
  11. Barney (Almond) Butter
  12. Magnesium supplement (to keep things regular)
  13. Bobble water bottle (a stylish and reusable bottle that filters water as you drink!)

Other Musts:
  • Glass container of crudité (French for raw veggies and dip, fancy!)
  • Bars that won’t melt
  • Probiotics (though the best ones must be refrigerated)
  • Tea (bags for the purpose of space and ease)
  • Nuts (in small amounts)
What are your must haves and snacks for travel? Would you pack avocados?

Amalfi Coast

Currently dreaming about the Amalfi coast… Sorrento, Positano and the view from Le Sirenuse’s hotel restaurant.

Packing List

Use The Universal Packing List when creating a list of what to pack becomes just another item that you need a list to remind yourself to do.

Check off your specifics and presto, your packing list is generated and ready to use!

10 Days in a Carry-On

Posted on

I may love packing almost as much as traveling.  It might have something to do with my organizational OCD.  I also try my hardest to travel only with a carry-on if it’s a week or less trip.

The New York Times features a demonstration by Heather Poole, a flight attendant from L.A. who is obviously Dutch, packing enough for TEN days into a single standard carry-on!

What Heather is packing into her carry-on:

  • 3 pairs of shorts
  • 3 pairs of dress pants
  • 1 skirt
  • 3 pairs of casual pants or jeans
  • 3 nightgowns
  • 3 bathing suits
  • 1 sarong
  • 3 lightweight sweaters
  • 4 dresses
  • 10 casual shirts
  • 6 dress shirts
  • A clutch
  • Toiletries
  • 2 pairs of shoes

Practical without sacrifice, A++!

Safari

Posted on

A safari is a once in a lifetime must and Afrika Safari provides a multitude of specialized tour options, including a customized VIP tour that will take you to all the destinations of Brangelina’s previous tour with them.  Not too shabby.

A stay at the exclusive Burning Shore resort and a dune buggy ride are also pluses.

Cascais

Portugal’s coastline stretching from Sintra south to Cascais and then Estoril comprises Portugal’s version of the Riviera.  Which is fitting because Cascais, according to Forbes magazine, is the new up and coming St. Tropez.

So whether you’re looking for a place to anchor your yacht or just catch some rays with cocktail in hand, Cascais should definitely be on your must visit list.

Machu Picchu

Undoubtedly one of the must see sites in the continent of South America is Machu Picchu.  This lost Inca city with its spectacular location is the best known archaeological site on the continent.  The high season for tourism is from late May until early September and the maximum limit of visitors per day is 2,500.

Just looking at a picture of Machu Picchu inspires awe.
